Born to an impoverished elven family in the environs of Lordaeron, Aldeus' mother was forced to leave her son in the care of the Temple of Light. The priests there treated him like their own blood, but life in the monastery was too dull, and at 17 he packed away his few belongings and stole away into the night with a handsome young paladin named Khatos.
For years the two traveled the Eastern Kingdoms. Despite his boredom with the priestly lifestyle, Aldeus had a knack for wielding holy magic and developed a strong affinity for the Light along the way. Khatos meanwhile honed his own skills as a knight, and during their adventures a powerful and loving bond formed.
When Arthas began his campaign in Lordaeron, Aldeus and Khatos had just purchased a home together in Tranquillien. When the Scourge army arrived on their doorstep, Khatos challenged Arthas to a duel for the fate of his village. Undeath had done little to curb the prince's ego, and he accepted. Khatos was inevitably slain, but the diversion had bought the townsfolk enough time to escape, dragging Aldeus kicking and screaming as they fled. After Khatos' death, Aldeus ate nothing, and drank nothing for three days and three nights. On the fourth dawn, as sun struck his bloodshot eyes he cursed the Light for its inability to soothe his pain, and vowed to use it instead as a weapon to claim his vengeance.
From then on, Aldeus spent every waking moment with a sword in his hand. Over time the little fat he had on his slender frame turned to hard muscle. He traveled from the peaks of Stonetalon to the Jungles of Stranglethorn. He eventually signed on as a Blood Knight in Silvermoon, and after several tours in the Plaguelands, he was sent to Northrend.
In the frozen wastes he faced trials unlike anything he had ever known. Through ice and blood he forged a path to the Lich King's throne, where he would have been another casualty if not for the intervention of Tirion Fordring. With the Paladin Lord's counseling, Aldeus was able to release his anger, and he was made a champion of the Sin'dorei within the Argent Crusade.
As the final battle against the Lich King raged, Aldeus commanded a battalion of soldiers responsible for keeping Scourge reinforcements from assisting their master. When the dust settled, and the victims of Frostmourne were set free, Aldeus whispered a prayer for his lost love on a balcony of Icecrown Citadel, the first he had uttered since the duel in Tranquillien.
