The winds blew softly across the hot, dry Barrens. The shattering chasm splitting the land in two is clearly seen to the south, the Horde has been at work trying to hold and protect both pieces of the broken land. Not just for territorial purposes, or in the name of the Horde, or to be remembered by young pups as an Elder tells their story. No.. There is a deeper purpose, one duty-bound and a legend..
In the days when Thrall and the New Horde set foot on Kalimdor, there was a great warrior. He had no mate, carried no surname to honor past accomplishments. This orc, this warrior, died fighting the centaur, to free the tauren. They say that he killed so many centaur, that the corpses hardened into rock and made the mountain southwest of the Crossroads, today.
With his dying breath he made his fellow comrades swear to not share stories or songs of him. A true showing of ultimate humility. This unknown warrior simply went by the name of 'M.K'. His achievements rival even that of Thrall's! What are his achievements? That is the legend, what he has done in life is just as mysterious as the nickname he went by. He helped settle Kalimdor for the Horde in it's infancy.
Over the years since his comrades laid his body to rest upon a stone pedestal, many warriors have come to honor his spirit. Tauren, Orc, Dwarf, Gnome.. There is no racial boundary in terms of respect for mighty fighters. His memorial has become an obelisk, now, the letters of his only name etched deeply into the stone so that not even time may erase the legend that the orc represents. His body lies there still, undisturbed by neither Cataclysm or roaming looter. Some say that his spirit stays with the body, watching the growing power of the Horde, since his unexpected death.
That is the legend, as vague as it is, about the legend of M.K, a true warrior and hero of the Horde. It has been used as a site of instruction, by some warriors, and a place of meditative rest.. Now, it shall be visited once more, perhaps the first time since the Cataclysm shook the world of Azeroth.
A song whispers upon the winds about the memorial and the mysterious warrior, known only to the most wise and dedicated of Loremasters..
Perhaps we have all heard of Mr. Michael Koiter. One of the talented artists that helped develop World of Warcraft back when it was in it's stage of development. He helped test the beta with the orc character 'Twincruiser'. Unfortunately, he died of unexpected heart failure.
In honor of Mr. Koiter, Blizzard placed 'The Shrine of the Fallen Warrior' in the Barrens, where a memorial to him and his contribution to Warcraft can be seen even on the flight path from Orgrimmar to Thunder Bluff (or Thunder Bluff to Orgrimmar, I think..). Even the Orgrimmar-to-Thunder Bluff zeppelin flies over the spot! Coincidence? I think not!
It's not just in World of Warcraft that Mr. Koiter is given homage to, though! In Star Craft 2: Wings of Liberty, Jim Raynor even picks up the dog tags of a Marine named 'M. Koiter'. For those that need proof, here's a WoWwiki page with accurate information, mind you.

What are you getting at, Ogrun?
What I'm 'getting at' is that my guild, The Vivacious Dawn, would like to honor Mister Koiter! Though his actual date of death is in the month far ahead of us (March), giving respect to this memorial will, we believe, give more purpose to this memorial than just an 'easter egg'.
When and where is this event, Ogrun? Is it In-Charecter?
In what is now the Northern Barrens, we will gather at the Crossroads on the 7th of February! At 6 PM, Server Time, we will head towards the memorial. It is an in-charecter event, but everyone and anyone is welcome to participate.
Yes, even you, Garrosh.
Purpose: To give respects to the deceased Mister Michael Koiter
When: February 7th, 6 PM Server Time.
Where: Starting at the Crossroads in the Northern Barrens, and ending at the Shrine of the Fallen Warrior, in the Northern Barrens.
What: A horde-side focused event openly available to either faction for those that wishes to join in.
I wanted to post this here, just in case any of your Kiss folks wanted to join in on this and don't make regular trips to the realm forums. Let me know if you want a calendar invite.
